Help how can i tame a male syrian.?

I have a male Syrian Hamster called Ozzy I have had him for a week but can not seem to get him to trust us he is always very nervous and makes a lot of noise. I had a female syrian hamster called Ellie who died just over a week ago but she was very easy to tame this is my first male syrian so are they just harder to tame than a female and can anyone have any advise on taming him preferably from someone who owns a male syrian hamster.
