Can i dye light ginger hair to blonde without bleaching?

my natural hair colour is dark ash blonde and I really want to dye my hair to a light ash blonde like ellie gouldings'. My hair right now though is light brown (I dyed my natural hair bright red, then dark red, then i stripped it which went ginger then dyed it dark brown and is faded now to a light caramel brown) If i stripped the brown out of my hair and did it twice (would be a dark auburn - blonde colour) would i be able to dye it with one hair dye (not bleach) to a light ash blonde? maybe if i added bleached highlights too and used a purple toner to cancel out orange tones, would it be light enough? if not could you please give me tips on how to dye light brown hair blonde without damaging too much, thankyou
